Join in the 'Reading to Hungerford' (R2H) Fun-Run to Help Emma Walk
- On June 20th run from Reading to Hungerford (30 miles), mostly on the Kennet and Avon canal towpath but detouring via Wasing for the Summer Fayre and some refreshments. The run will be split into three sections of 13 miles, 8 miles & 9 miles. Join in at any point and complete one, two or three sections (or join in at any point on the route and do whatever distance you’re comfortable with). We’ll be taking two 15 minute breaks between sections for rest and re-fuelling, and a couple of minutes break in the middle of each section for water. This gives less experienced runners the chance of being able to complete the full distance of whatever length they choose to attempt. The pace will be steady, not fast (approx 9-10 minutes per mile) with the idea that we all run as one group – so we’ll go at the pace of the slowest person. The more the merrier and the higher the total sponsorship potential so we want to make it as easy for as many people as possible to join in.
- Routes now mapped out. Click legs below for detailed map:
- Leg 1 -- 13 miles -- Finishing at Wasing Park, Aldermaston (tea and cakes!)
- Leg 2 -- 8 miles -- Finishing at Victoria Park, Newbury (light lunch and ice cream!)
- Leg 3 -- 9 miles -- Finishing at Railway Tavern, Hungerford (dinner and well deserved pint!)
- Let us know if you want to participate, contact Bruce Jackson at bjackson@solidworks.com.

Extreme Kayaking! Well Done Mike Grieve!!!
- Says Mike of his extreme kayaking adventure: "Well I did it, and I stayed upright for the whole race. A miracle given that the Thames is on ‘RED’ or ‘Stream Increasing’ for the entire stretch of the DW course! I came 19th out of 48 in a time of 20h20m. The results are here under ‘Senior Singles’ http://www.dwrace.org.uk/results/2010/Results/OverallClassResults.html. Never been so glad to see Big Ben as yesterday, when I came round the last bend in the Tideway. The only thing that topped that was a Big Mac about 20 mins later! Needless to say I ache in places I didn’t know you could ache!"
